The move is in accordance with the approval from the Minister for power & new and renewable energy R. K. Singh and is designed to spur significant advancements in the country's green hydrogen initiatives.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) issued a directive exempting renewable energy plants in SEZs or EOUs from using specific pre-approved models and manufacturers (ALMM).
This exemption applies only if the renewable energy powers green hydrogen production facilities.
The goal is to speed up the deployment of renewable energy for green hydrogen production in these zones.
This exemption is valid for projects commissioned by December 31, 2030.
The exemption is expected to boost green hydrogen production by allowing for more flexible and cost-effective sourcing of clean energy.
This ultimately supports India's clean energy goals and carbon emission reduction targets.
